In the much-needed lull between primary elections and midterms, it’s time for deep breaths, good news, and ... dancing. To build and sustain the pro-democracy movement, we need joy and community! With that in mind, Indivisible Whidbey and SOS Whidbey are sponsoring a night of music and line dancing. (No experience necessary!)
Sunday, August 30, 6 pm - 8 pm Bayview Corner Parking Lot (Same place summer street dances are held) Free and family-friendly! Food for purchase We’ll be accepting donations for the Neighbor to Neighbor Whidbey Immigrant Fund. Throw on your dancing shoes (sneakers, boots, Birkenstocks?) and join us for some joy and community as we dance for democracy. Would you rather volunteer than dance? Email us or text 425-477-6717, as we would love a few volunteers to help with the fun. Postcarders, Get Ready to Rock! It’s looking like a very busy couple of months for our postcarding team! They will be sending postcards in other states and working to get out the vote right here on the island. Here’s how you can get in on the action:

Wednesday, August 19, 5 pm - 6 pm Sign up here Election Protection 201 This virtual training will build on 101, but it’s OK if you can only attend one or the other. Wednesday August 26, 5 pm - 6 pm Sign up here Pro tip: If you sign up for this national training, you will receive the recording and materials. Even if you can’t attend in real-time, you can get up to speed afterward, when your schedule permits. Ensuring Election Integrity: WA Secretary of State Steve Hobbs Join us on National Constitution and Citizenship Day when The Whidbey Island Democratic Club hosts Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs. (DYK he was just elected as President of the National Association of Secretaries of State?!) He will bring us up to speed on efforts to ensure our state’s election integrity and on current court battles to protect our election rules and processes against federal overreach. We’ve received a generous donation of air miles to help support these efforts, and we’re looking at other ways to lower the cost of participating.
